saw its humble beginnings at the end of 1989 when a group of pupils, newly emerged from their pupillage at the Bar, were advised by the Johannesburg Bar Council that accommodation in established chambers was in short supply. They quickly solved the problem by starting up a group of advocates on the 16th Schreiner Chambers, appropriately calling themselves “Group 16".
As is the nature of practice at the Bar, members come and go. However, a core group of the founding members remain and constitute the foundation of Group 16. Our group prides itself on its democratic style of management, and the fact that within its ranks are a close knit group of advocates, who since its inception, have engendered and maintained an efficient, stable and harmonious group of advocates.
